In the future, Lukas Dorn-Fussenegger will be traveling with three ships on the Moldau reservoir near the border in the Czech Bohemian Forest. The number of guests rose from 28,000 to 60,000.
Lukas Dorn-Fussenegger does not really challenge the corona virus. The Leondingen-based entrepreneur has bought the German excursion ship "Sea Life", which will sail from Speyer to Linz on Tuesday after April 14th. The "Sea Life" has so far been on the Rhine, in the future it will bring guests closer to the beauties of the Vltava reservoir. The Rosenberger Lipno line from Dorn-Fussenegger is already on the reservoir with two ships, the "Sea Life" will now be the third. It is renamed the Czech composer Smetana, who is known for his composition "Die Moldau", among others.
400,000 euros for ship and transport
"We were able to increase the number of passengers from 28,000 to 60,000", Dorn-Fussenegger explains his investment. The Sea-Life costs 200,000 euros, the transfer to the reservoir comes to another 200,000. The 25-meter ship will travel 760 km from Speyer to the reservoir and will arrive in the port of Linz on April 20. It is then reloaded onto a transporter that takes three days and two nights for the Linz-Reservoir route. The total length of the transporter with the ship is 38 m and holds a transport weight including low loader of around 160 tons. The ship itself has an empty weight of 64 tons. In total, more than 40 people are involved in transportation.
Through Bad Leonfelden
Dorn-Fussengger similarly brought the "Adalbert Stifter" from LInz to the reservoir eight years ago. A major difference now lies in the route planning, which this time leads via Zwettl an der Rodl and directly through Bad Leonfelden. After that, the ship is not transported further via Guglwald, but through Vissy Brod (Hohenfurth) to the Lipno, the watering takes place in Frýdava, at the same place as eight years ago.
Baptism of the ship in Lipno
A ship blessing is planned in Leonfelden, the christening of the ship takes place on the jetty in Lipno under the name "Smetana". The famous composer and author Adalbert Stifter knew each other as contemporaries, and Smetana composed his famous “Vltava” in the former Kienberg (now Loucovice) just a few kilometers from today's lake.
Lasting memory
“In our entire company history, shipping by Adalbert Stifter has been our most impressive and beautiful moment. The help and positive attitude of the Mühlviertel residents made these days an unforgettable moment. Instead of making transportation difficult for us as a small family business, as happens in many cases, all local residents have supported and warmly welcomed us, ”said Dorn-Fussenegger.
